Primal Rumble® is a mixed reality first, slapstick comedy combat card game, where players compete their loveable and hilarious 'Primals' against each other, collect and build decks of comically violent moves, while unlocking new characters, skins and arenas.

The game is currently in development for Meta Quest and due to release mid 2026.

The core combat mechanic is a turn based combat card game, playable in single player and PvP (x4), with similarities to games like Hearthstone, Slay the Spire, and Marvel Snap. Each Primal has their own set of move cards that are collected over time, and can be upgraded. Some cards can also be shared between Primals.

All move cards can be used in various combinations to ensure gameplay is unique every time. Each Primal will suggest their own play style, with players being able to customize them to surprise their opponents.

We teamed up with our friends at Dubit and an all-star cast behind this feature movie including Lea Michele, Kelsey Grammer, Dan Aykroyd, Jim Belushi, Martin Short, Oliver Platt, Hugh Dancy and the great Patrick Stewart.

The production team behind the movie spoke to us originally to understand more about how virtual worlds and online games could be used to continue storytelling and adventures outside of their movie IP. While the movie was still in pre-production, we worked with their teams of animators, script writers, actors and more to design a virtual world that would help introduce children, a new demographic to this timeless property.

The world was designed to introduce children to the adventure ahead of the movie being released, and then continue their adventure after they saw it in 

. We encouraged re-engagement throughout the world by introducing new games and adventures, creating a platform to keep fans coming back again and again.

We teamed up with EA Games Executive Rick Giolito and the Veteran Voice of the UFC Octagon, Bruce Buffer to create the hard-hitting combat card game based in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.


MMA Federation is a mobile Combat Card Game (CCG) that rewards players the more they play. Players can create their fighters, join real world MMA teams, train with real MMA coaches and fighters, progress their fight career, as well as challenging friends and competing in real PvP tournaments.

Throughout the process we provided game design documentation and project planning, technical RnD and proof of concepts, art and design concepts, environment and character art, game development, UX and UI art and design, QA and testing, and also assisted with all launch and marketing collateral.

Original characters

We teamed up with our friends at DRI to create Matchday Challenge: FIFA Women's World Cup AU NZ 2023™ Edition - Testing who is the most knowledgeable fan and best match predictor? Challenge your friends to find out and win exclusive digital player cards.

Working with Dream Reality Interactive, Matchday and FIFA Women's World Cup are proud to bring you this fun test of fan knowledge for both football experts and casual players celebrating the 2023 summer's showpiece tournament.

You have 60 seconds to answer as many questions as possible. Each correct answer will move you further forward up the pitch, until you eventually get to the goal and have the chance to score! Careful, though - get one question wrong and you'll drop back.

Play XD worked with DRI's internal team providing mobile-first approach, UX design, game design, UI and visual design, and audio design, helping to bridge the gap between internal art and development.

Learn with the world's silliest learning company.

Mrs Wordsmith are all about literacy materials that work for kids, parents, and educators. Their hilariously illustrated, curriculum-aligned books and games are proven to make learning to read, and reading to learn, fun and effective.

Working with our friends at Preloaded and collaboratively with Mrs Wordsmith's internal development and design team, we created an immersive mobile tablet education game for kids, helping them to learn and collect words while exploring a hilarious and wonderful mansion.

We created fully interactive wireframe prototypes to communicate and help visualise a child's journey through the game, and also to illustrate how parents and teachers can interact with them in the same eco-system.

Other pets just eat your homework. This one helps you ace it!


We adore creating products for children, and it's even better if there are educational benefits to them. Puku is just that!

Working with our friends at Preloaded, we helped to advise on design and worked on various proof of concepts and design prototypes for their new Merrium-Webster product - Puku. Quickly register and add your child (or children) to allow them to meet Puku, and help him grow as your child learns and understands new words.

The time travel adventure story for kids.

The Time Tribe is a time travel adventure story for kids. It combines role-playing and puzzle-solving in a tablet and browser-based adventure game featuring real world artefacts, letters, and stories to build out a narrative filled with rich and quirky characters, dastardly plots, actual history and archaeology.

Four children are brought to an old manor house in upstate New York under mysterious circumstances to live with a new guardian. They discover that they are the last members of an ancient organization called The Time Tribe - and that with the right Time keys, they can travel through time to eras long past. But they also learn that dark forces are working against them - a rival clan that values greed and personal gain over preserving relics of history and helping those who suffer, and who seek to trap the children in the past.

Working with our long-standing friends at Dubit, pioneers of children's entertainment, we worked with their team to produce various game assets including a beautiful steampunk-inspired GUI.

The misadventures of the wizard Randalf and his assistant Newt.

Muddle Earth is a fantasy-adventure series co-produced by Factory and CBBC and produced by Phil Chalk. We worked with our friends at Dubit to produce the online game and virtual world.

Beautifully rendered using flash animation, the series is based on the eponymous book of the same name by Paul Stewart, which was first published in 2003 and illustrated by Chris Riddell.

Aimed at six to nine year olds, Muddle Earth is a comical take on the wonderful world of wizardry. At its heart are magical and humorous characters like the would-be-sorcerer Newt, who acts as our guide, and the evil pink teddy Dr Cuddles.

A long, long, long.... long time ago, this is where it all began. Another legacy project that we're still so wonderfully proud about.

Exile was a web-based casual game developed in Flash. It was your typical dungeon crawling, action RPG, exploring a world of myths, monsters and cheeky peasants who have the nerve to SELL products to the saviour of the world.

Exile was created by Phil and Martyn - founder of Play XD and Lead Developer respectively. It was created in their own time, in a small house, back when they were still finding their feet in the industry.

We were fortunate at the time to get a deal with Miniclip who informed us since then that the game had massive positive reviews with over 3 million gameplays.

This is one of our legacy projects but we never tire of referencing it. We're still extremely proud of a roots in games. Mini Match was a virtual world for kids, immersing them in a miniature fantasy adventure game where they had to work together to adventure and solve puzzles.

This was one of our earliest projects working with Dubit, providing all map and environment artwork for the world, as well as creative and design direction throughout.
